Direct sale vs pre-sale

4 min readUpdated Jul 6, 2026Applies since v2.0

Repartya supports two ways to sell on the route: direct sale (deliver and collect on the spot) and pre-sale (take the order today, deliver later). Both coexist; your company defines which you use.

Direct sale

You carry product in your vehicle and, during the visit, deliver and collect on the spot. The sale lowers your inventory instantly and the payment joins your cash-up. It's the classic direct-store-delivery (DSD) model: the rep is also the driver. See Rep inventory.

Pre-sale

You take the order during the visit but don't deliver then: the product is fulfilled and delivered later (another day or by delivery). It doesn't lower your load instantly and payment can wait until delivery. Useful when you split order-taking from delivery logistics.

Which do I use?

It depends on your company's setup; many operations use both depending on the customer or route. Either way, the order-taking flow is the same: see Sell: and route collection is still cash only.

The rep is the driver

In DSD the same role sells, delivers and collects. There's no separate "driver" role: the rep does it all from the app.

Common issues

  • I made a direct sale and my inventory didn't drop: it needs syncing; the movement reaches the web on sync.
  • I don't know if an order is pre-sale or direct: it's set by the customer/route configuration; check with your administrator.
